Statement of Gov. Rick Perry on DOJ Ruling on Redistricting
"I am delighted the U.S. Department of Justice validated our efforts to draw fairer districts that reflect the voting patterns of Texas by pre-clearing our state's newly drawn congressional map. In addition, the federal court panel clearly affirmed today the state legislature's ability to draw congressional districts under state law. As the Department of Justice found, senators and representatives carried out their constitutional responsibility this year in a fair and legal way."
