Blog - Constituent Testifies Before Financial Services Committee

Today, I welcomed David Roberts of Whitehouse, Ohio to Washington, D.C. today where he was testifying before the Financial Services Committee in favor of the National Affordable Housing Trust Fund Act of 2007. David currently serves as the President and CEO of Lutheran Homes Society, Inc. in Holland, Ohio.

I was happy to have an opportunity to meet with David prior to his testifying before the Financial Services Committee. Congressional hearings are an opportunity for Members of Congress to hear directly from the people about how legislation could affect them. David was clearly an able advocate for those in need of affordable housing and I was especially pleased to see such a strong Northwest Ohio influence testifying before the Committee.

David Roberts has been the President and CEO of Lutheran Homes Society, Inc. since 1994. He received a Bachelor Degree in Business Administration and an MBA from the University of Toledo. He continued his education at the Evangelical Lutheran Church in America located in Missouri and went on to receive his Doctorate from Capella University.

David Roberts is shown testifying before the House Financial Services Committee earlier today.Since 1860, Lutheran Homes Society has served seniors and young people through homes in Bucyrus, Fremont, Gibsonburg, Lima, Millbury, Napoleon, Norwalk, Oak Harbor, Oregon, Sandusky, Toledo and Whitehouse, Ohio and Bedford Township, Michigan. The 1,800 residents are served through extended care ministries, assisted and independent living apartments, youth group homes, and ancillary services.

With Mr. Roberts at the helm, Lutheran Homes has become one of the largest long-term care non-profits in America. Lutheran Homes Society provides critical housing to my constituents in Norwalk, Fremont, New London, Bucyrus, Whitehouse and Napoleon, Ohio among others in Michigan. I appreciate Mr. Robert's diligence in working to solve the housing needs of Northwest Ohio and his willingness to testify today.
