Campbell Statement Regarding Broadcom vs. Qualcomm Remedy Announcement

U.S. Rep. John Campbell (CA-48) today issued the following statement regarding the recent remedy announcement by the International Trade Commission (ITC) in the Broadcom v. Qualcomm investigation:

"With the ITC's decision to exclude the future importation of cell phones containing patent infringing chips but grandfathering current models, the ITC has effectively protected both Broadcom's patent rights and Qualcomm's ability to serve its customers.

"The Commission plays a critical role in enforcing U.S. patent rights in an increasingly globalized marketplace - where manufacturing, distribution and end-use of products often take place on different continents. When companies use loopholes to avoid patent protections, it's the Commission's duty to find a solution that protects patents and maintains a market that promotes innovation and fair play.

"It is my belief that, in this case, a well-balanced remedy was struck, and I look forward to seeing it implemented."
