Matheson Assists Castledale with Land Acquisition

Congressman Jim Matheson said today his efforts on behalf of the town of Castledale regarding a long-sought parcel of land have paid off.

Matheson said city officials have been seeking the return of an acre of land that the town-in 1946-- deeded to the U.S. Forest Service for a headquarters building, which was never built. The property is located near the site where the Emery County fair is held today. City officials sought to regain title of the property, in order to expand the park and fair facilities. Matheson intervened and recently the Forest Service sent a letter to Castledale's mayor, announcing that the property title would be returned to the town.

"I am pleased that my office was able to play a role in the desired outcome. As a regular visitor to the Emery County fair, I look forward to seeing the improvements that can now be made to the site, "said Matheson.
