KCRG: Two Democratic Presidential Candidates Visit Dubuque, Talk About Iraq War
By Mark Geary
Two key democratic presidential candidates were in Dubuque Thursday night, speaking out about the war in Iraq.
Chris Dodd and Joe Biden appeared together in Dubuque to gather more support for their campaigns.
They posed for pictures with supporters and even met with Governor Chet Culver.
Afterwards, both candidates spoke to TV-9 and outlined their plan to end the war in Iraq.
Chris Dodd said, "I believe we ought to start redeploying our forces immediately and complete that process by the end of March next year."
Joe Biden said, "I'd call an international conference. Bring the world in. Make Iraq the world's problem. I would separate the parties. I would make a federal system where each of the parties had control of their own region."
All throughout the race for president, KCRG-TV9 will poll Iowa voters about various issues.
Research 2000 conducts our Vote 2008 Iowa polls. It's a nonpartisan research firm based in Maryland.
Here's some of what we found in our first poll:
Sixty-eight percent of people said they disapprove of George Bush's performance as president.
When it comes to the war in Iraq, the results show Iowans do not think going to war with Iraq to change regimes was worth it.
Only 26 percent approve the war. Sixty-seven percent do not.
