Congresswoman Ileana Ros-Lehtinen issued the following statement upon learning that the Senate has passed the Water Resources Development Act of 2007 (WRDA). The final Senate vote was 91 to 4.
"The City of Layton in my Congressional District was not reimbursed for $1 million in upgrades to its wastewater system, as part of the Florida Keys Water Quality Improvement Project. My staff and I have been working closely with our counterparts in the House Transportation Committee to ensure that the language was placed in the House version of the bill to reimburse Layton for its advanced funding.
Although this language was not included in the Senate version, I will work with my colleagues in the House and the Senate to see that this provision remains in the final legislation. Further, I hope that the White House refrains from its original intent to veto this important piece of legislation."
