Nunes demands answers from Iraq war opponents

Today, Representative Devin Nunes (R-Tulare) issued the following statement concerning the upcoming vote on House Concurrent Resolution 63, a non-binding resolution opposing the troop surge in Iraq.

Rep. Nunes, in response to the failure of Democrats to offer constructive criticism:

"This resolution is a sham. It has no meaning in law. If the new leadership in Congress opposes our efforts in Iraq, they have a responsibility to the American people to tell us what they are going to do differently," said Nunes.

Rep. Nunes, in response to the allegation that Iraq isn't part of the War on Terror:

"We are at war. The authors of this resolution are living in denial. If you don't believe that Iraq is ground zero in the War on Terrorism, you are seriously mistaken. You can ignore our military and intelligence agencies and you can ignore the concerns of our coalition allies. However, can you afford to ignore the words of our enemy?

"The most important and serious issue today for the whole world is this third world war…it is raging in Iraq. The world's millstone and pillar is in Baghdad , the capital of the caliphate." ~ Osama bin Laden, April 2006
