CARTER: ENERGY BILL WILL RAISE ENERGY COSTS

House Conference Secretary John Carter (TX-31) today voted against a bill that will increase energy prices for American consumers and continue our dependence on foreign oil. H.R. 6 will lead to billions in tax increases for American energy producers, which will mean higher prices for consumers and a tax advantage for foreign oil producers while harming domestic oil producers.

"Today's action by the Democrats will result in increased energy costs for Americans, both at the pump and in their homes. This bill will exacerbate the energy crisis facing America by increasing our dependence on foreign oil and increasing energy costs," Congressman Carter said. "In Texas, we are proud of our tradition of oil production and exploration, and we understand that this bill is bad for business and bad for consumers. If we are going to reduce gas prices, we must encourage domestic oil producers, not punish them."
