ARLINGTON, VA Joe Lieberman issued the following statement in response to President Bush's comments today on Medicare:

"Partisanship and ideology are once again threatening to sink the Medicare drug benefit our seniors deserve.  President Bush needs to do more than talk about unity.  He needs to exercise real leadership, and get his Republican allies in Congress to stop the push for privatization under the deceptive mantra of modernization.

Our seniors have been sitting in the waiting room for more than 30 years. It's time to get them the drug benefit they deserve"
