Pointe Coupee parish approved for $443,000 loan for sewer system

U.S. Rep. Richard Baker, R-Baton Rouge, announced today that Sewerage District #4 in Pointe Coupee parish has been approved by the USDA office of Rural Development for federal assistance of $443,000 toward a new sewer system. The assistance will be granted in the form of low-interest direct loan (40 years at 4.125 percent).

"I congratulate District Chairman Chapman for his successful efforts to address the needs of the people of the parish," Baker said. "As a House Republican leader on water and wastewater policy, I recognize the importance of projects like this to Pointe Coupee parish communities, and I expect to advance legislation soon to make funding for them much more available."

The Rural Development funds will be used to complete construction of a new sewer collection system to serve approximately 320 users in rural Pointe Coupee parish, and will significantly improve the quality of life and health and safety of area residents.
