Cramer Named to Transportation Appropriations Subcommittee

U.S. Representative Bud Cramer (Ala.-05) was appointed today to serve as a majority member of the House Appropriations Subcommittee on Transportation and Housing and Urban Development.

The Transportation and Housing and Urban Development Subcommittee provides funding for the transportation needs throughout the country. This includes our highway system and our railroads. Also, the subcommittee will provide funding for our nation's airports, including those under the Essential Air Service program. The Subcommittee also provides funds for economic and community development projects, and public housing programs such as Section 8 and the HOME Investments Partnerships.

"North Alabama is growing and as a member of this subcommittee, I am in a stronger position to advocate for our transportation and housing needs," said Cramer.

Representative Cramer has been a member of the House Appropriations Committee since 1998. It is one of four exclusive committees in the U.S. House of Representatives, and is responsible for providing funds for all areas of the federal government as well as vital programs that help meet the needs of the nation.
