PENCE STATEMENT ON EXECUTION OF SADDAM HUSSEIN

U.S. Congressman Mike Pence issued the following statement today on the execution of Saddam Hussein. Pence is a member of the International Relations Committee and traveled to Operation Iraqi Freedom on four different occasions. During his second congressional trip, Pence met with the families of victims of the regime of Saddam Hussein.

"Saddam Hussein was a nightmare for the Iraqi people and his execution marks the end of an era when violence against innocent men, women and children was a means to wealth and power.

"In the place of the tyranny of Saddam Hussein, the Iraqi people have chosen democracy and the rule of law. May the execution of this tyrant bring comfort to the families of his legions of victims and may this justice bring new hope that the days of terror and violence in Iraq are coming to an end."
