Fortenberry Sworn In with 110th Congress

Congressman Jeff Fortenberry today was sworn in as Representative of Nebraska's First Congressional District in the House of Representatives. Fortenberry took the oath of office this afternoon from new Speaker of the House Nancy Pelosi (D-CA).

"It is an extraordinary honor to serve Nebraskans in Washington," Fortenberry said. "I am privileged to work everyday on behalf of the families and communities of eastern Nebraska."

"In the new Congress, I will remain committed to the pursuit of policies that strengthen our families, our communities, and our nation. My work will be guided by five key principles: strengthening our national security and international relations, increasing economic opportunity and rural vitality, developing smart energy and environmental policy, creating affordable patient-centered healthcare, and supporting family life and culture."

Fortenberry began his service in the House of Representatives in January 2005. He was re-elected in November.

Throughout the history of the United States, 11,815 individuals have served in the U.S. Congress.
