Shuster Receives NAM Award for Strong Voting Record and Tours MeadWestvaco Plant
Shuster Thanked for Pro-Manufacturing Votes and for Testifying on Behalf of MeadWestvaco in July to Level the Playing Field

Washington, DC - Congressman Bill Shuster was awarded the National Association of Manufacturers (NAM) Award for Manufacturing Legislative Excellence today at MeadWestvaco's Alexandria plant. The NAM award is given annually to members of Congress who consistently vote for key manufacturing legislation that promotes and protects American manufacturers. The award was presented by Plant Manager and NAM member Perry Smith in recognition of Shuster's consistent support for American manufacturers and their employees. After receiving the award, Shuster toured the Alexandria facility.

"I'm honored to receive this award today and I'm proud to be recognized for my pro-growth and pro-manufacturing voting record," said Shuster. "I consider it my duty to stand up in Washington for the hardworking men and women employed in manufacturing."

In July of this year, Shuster testified before the International Trade Commission (ITC) on behalf of MeadWestvaco when the plant was in danger of being put out of business by foreign competitors who were violating international trade laws. Shuster's testimony played a key role in MeadWestvaco's victory when the ITC took action in September to level the playing field for U.S. manufacturers, saving hundreds of good jobs in the Ninth District.

"I'm glad that my testimony could help MeadWestvaco," said Shuster. "They provide hundreds of good jobs in the Ninth District and are critical to our local economy. I applaud the ITC's decision to level the playing field and take action against unfair trade practices injuring U.S. companies."
