Pro-growth Policies Benefit America

Friday, October 06, 2006

TAMPA, FL - Congresswoman Katherine Harris, the Republican candidate for United States Senate, points to economic data released today by the Bureau of Labor Statistics of the U.S. Department of Labor as added proof that tax cuts continue to bolster our economic vitality. Harris is the only candidate in this race who will fight for pro-growth policies to benefit our small businesses and spur economic growth.

"Lowering taxes is essential for a strong economy. I concur with President John Kennedy's assertion that ‘an economy hampered by restrictive tax rates will never produce enough revenue to balance our budget, just as it will never produce enough jobs or enough profits,' states Congresswoman Harris. "My opponent has voted against tax cuts time and time again, opting to funnel more of our wages to a bloated federal government."

Bill Nelson's long record of voting against tax cuts is harmful to Florida's small businesses. A clear example is Nelson's refusal to support tax credits for small business owners to purchase health insurance for their employees, the type of vote that has earned Nelson the title "Enemy of the Taxpayer" by the National Taxpayer's Union.

Katherine Harris, the Republican Candidate for the United States Senate, currently serves as the Representative for Florida's 13th Congressional District. After receiving a Masters in Public Policy from Harvard's Kennedy School of Government, she continued a distinguished career in public service to her native state that began in the State Senate and as Florida's last elected Secretary of State. She resides in Longboat Key with her husband Anders Ebbeson and his 24-year-old daughter, Louise along with the constituents of District thirteen.
