As a valued supporter of the "Andy Mayberry for Congress" campaign, I want you to be among the first to know of a possible upcoming challenge: We may have a primary election that would potentially be held May 23.
As you know, I've spent the past 10 months focused on winning the upcoming general election against a liberal, five-term incumbent U.S. Congressman -- one who votes frequently with the ACLU and whose record supports such things as partial-birth and other types of abortion, gay marriage and gay adoption, gun control, higher taxes and policies that hurt small businesses. After a decade of that type of representation, I believe it's time for a change. I want to take common-sense, conservative Arkansas values to Washington, D.C. That's "Mayberry" thinking!
However, it has been reported by at least one news source that another candidate plans to run for the Republican nomination for Arkansas' 2nd Congressional District seat and will make an "official" announcement later this week. Rather than having you learn about it through newspaper, radio or TV reports, I want to let you know first-hand and give you my perspective on the subject.
Though it would certainly require additional time, effort and resources, I understand there are many benefits that could be gained from a primary election in May. Victory in a primary will undoubtedly give the "Andy Mayberry for Congress" campaign added momentum, funding and publicity that can only serve to enhance our opportunities for a win in the general election in November against a multi-term incumbent.
So, if indeed a challenge comes, I welcome it as a grand opportunity. If that challenge does not take place, then I am appreciative of the undivided support.
Either way, I thank you for all that you've done, and I look forward to your continued support as we work together to take "Mayberry" thinking to Washington, D.C.!
I look forward to hearing from each of you soon!
