Fresno, CA (June 7, 2006) - TJ Cox celebrated winning the Democratic nomination on Tuesday with plans to reach out to all the people of the 19th Congressional District.

"Voters are done with partisan attacks and political battles. They mean nothing to real people," Cox said. "When you're faced with a $1,000 health care premium every month, the insurance company doesn't ask whether you're a Democrat or a Republican."

He added, "It is absolutely crucial that the region ~ representing voters in Fresno, Madera, Stanislaus, Tuolumne and Mariposa counties ~ has someone working on real solutions to real problems. This is about helping our children, our seniors and our families."

On Nov. 7, TJ Cox faces incumbent George Radanovich, a Republican.

Cox has met with thousands of voters throughout the district. He has listened to doctors, law enforcement officers and teachers who are in the trenches. Cox finds it appalling that some of our local governments are hiring lobbyists in an attempt to have a voice in Washington. Work just isn't getting done.

"Local officials end up putting tax measures on the ballot because they're desperate to fix roads," Cox said. "It's time to return a fair share of dollars to the region. The taxpayers of Congressional District 19 are actually subsidizing other parts of the country. That needs to stop."

Cox is committed to balancing the federal budget, cleaning up the air and preserving safety nets for seniors. He also wants to work more aggressively to identify proactive solutions for law enforcement agencies that currently are seeing budgets slashed. "We talk a lot about Homeland Security but it's time to move dollars from the federal bureaucracy into local policing."

Cox has spent a career in engineering and construction. He is also an expert analyst on business and investment valuations. Cox is married to a pediatrician at Children's Hospital Central California. They have four children and live in Fresno.
