CONGRESSMAN HENRY CUELLAR SUPPORTS ZAPATA COUNTY ADVANCED TECHNOLOGY CENTER

Washington, DC- Congressman Henry Cuellar today joined representatives from Zapata County, Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) and Laredo Community College (LCC) to announce his continued support for Zapata County Advanced Technology Center (ZCATC).

The Zapata County Advanced Technology Center's (ZCATC) primary mission is to enhance Zapata County's and bordering communities' access to advanced technology services and equipment. ZCATC will further expand services currently being provided by Texas A&M International University through the Border Security Technology Accelerator and Enterprise Park and the Rio Grande City, Starr County and South Texas Community College Workforce Training Center.

ZCATC will provide opportunities for individuals to increase awareness of southern border issues, while promoting entrepreneurship, innovation and private investing to foster economic development and create higher-skill, higher-wage jobs in the area.

"This training program will give local residents the opportunity to develop the skills necessary to prosper in the new global economy. It will also give them the skills to serve and help others," noted Congressman Cuellar. "I have always believed that the best way to foster success, both personally and collectively, is to make education as accessible and affordable as possible, and this project does exactly that."
