Education

Education

America's quality of public education is not up to par. We are the most advanced nation in the world, yet in many areas of our great nation the quality of education mirrors that of some third world countries. While there have certainly been gains in education over the past decade, America's education system still falls short of guaranteeing all children an education equal in quality.

I believe that in order to improve America's education system we must:

* Involve parents;
* Better train and pay teachers;
* Raise student achievement in core subjects like science, math, and reading;
* Provide after school programs and expand early childhood education, through fully funding Head Start and the No Child Left Behind Act; and
* Make college more affordable by providing more grants and low-cost college loans for the next generation of teachers, scientists, and entrepreneurs.

I am proud to serve Florida's 23rd District in Congress, and I vow to work tirelessly to address the issues that matter most to my constituents.
