Issue Position: Guns

Throughout my years of service in Congress, I have been, and continue to be, a strong defender of the fundamental rights provided by the Second Amendment. I am a life-long gun owner, and I stand with those honest, law-abiding citizens of West Virginia that own guns for sports or hunting purposes, or for the protection of life and property. In the past year, I have strongly supported legislation endorsed by the National Rifle Association that prohibits certain lawsuits against firearm manufacturers and dealers for damages related to the criminal or unlawful use of their products by other persons. I also support legislation that would repeal the District of Columbia gun ban and restore to District residents the Constitutionally guaranteed right to protect themselves.
