Speaker Hastert Praises Passage of Oman Free Trade Agreement

Speaker of the House J. Dennis Hastert (R-IL) today made the following statement after the passage of H.R. 5684, the United States-Oman Free Trade Agreement Implementation Act.

;"America's economic stability and national security are directly linked with our ability to maintain a robust trading relationship with the rest of the world. When trade increases, business activity will increase. When businesses do well, jobs are created. Furthermore, trade creates jobs and lifts people out of poverty. When that happens, societies stabilize and grow; and their economies flourish. House Republicans appreciate the importance of free and fair trade as we focus daily on the Global War on Terror, and we understand this progress creates an environment where peaceful democracies can begin to take root."
