Braley: Eliminate Medicare Prescription Drug Late Signup Deadline, Penalty

Today Iowa First District Congressional candidate Bruce Braley renewed his call to eliminate the signup deadline and penalty on the Medicare prescription drug plan.

"Today, May 15th, marks the last day of the penalty-free signup period for Medicare Part D plans," Braley, a Democrat from Waterloo, said. "There are still over 150,000 eligible Iowa seniors who lack prescription drug coverage and who have not signed up for a Medicare drug plan. We need to eliminate the late signup penalty because it's time we had a prescription drug plan that puts seniors first, before the profits of big drug and HMO companies."

Braley added, "I support the efforts of Congressional Democrats and Governor Tom Vilsack to eliminate the late signup penalty for Medicare Part D."
