Oberstar's Projects Included in House-passed Appropriations Bill

Today, the House of Representatives passed the Science, State, Justice and Commerce Appropriations Bill for Fiscal Year 2007 (H.R. 5672) by a vote of 393-23. The bill, which Congressman James L. Oberstar supported, contains funding for a number of projects that would benefit Minnesota. The bill now moves to the Senate for consideration.

"I urged the appropriators to include funding for a number of organizations and projects related to law enforcement that have a proven record of success, and I am very pleased that the Appropriations Committee has included my requests in this bill," said Oberstar. "With violent crime on the rise and a methamphetamine epidemic plaguing communities in Minnesota and across the nation, it is vitally important that we invest in law enforcement and provide them with the resources they need to protect lives and property."
