Governor to Visit Troops at Border

Salt Lake City - Governor Jon Huntsman announced today he will be visiting the Utah National Guard soldiers who are working at the Arizona border Monday.

Governor Huntsman will be in Sedona, Arizona for a Western Governors Association conference Sunday through Tuesday. Monday afternoon he will join Utah National Guard Adjutant General Brian Tarbet for an hour-long tour of the work being done by soldiers of the 116th Construction Support Equipment Company, 489th Engineer Detachment and the 1457th Engineer Battalion who were deployed June 3 for a two-week work tour.

"Our men and women are working to help secure our border and I am looking forward to meeting with them," Huntsman said. "The security of our borders must be our first and foremost focus. Additionally, I want to express my sincere thanks to the troops for all of their hard work."

The group is expected to arrive in Yuma, Arizona from Sedona just before 1 p.m. and will arrive on scene with the troops at about 1:30 p.m.
