KUHL CONCERNED ABOUT VETERANS DATA BREACH

Representative John R. "Randy" Kuhl, Jr. said today the federal government, in response to a leak of personal data affecting 26.5 million veterans, has established a hotline at 1-800-FED INFO (1-800-333-4636).

"This breech of security was completely irresponsible and I'm glad to see that the Department is taking necessary steps to see that the employees responsible are held accountable for their actions and that the release of private information that was entrusted to the government is never treated so haphazardly again," said Rep. Kuhl. "Our veterans certainly do not warrant this type of treatment."

The hotline will be operated from 8 a.m. to 9 p.m. Monday-Saturday for as long as needed. Veterans who are concerned about their data being compromised can call for advice on how to ensure that they are protected from any potential misuse of their personal information.
