DIAZ-BALART: Defense Authorization Act Provides for the Needs of American Servicemen and Women

Bill Will Increase Funding for Needed Equipment

The U.S. House of Representatives today approved H.R. 5122, the National Defense Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007, to ensure that American servicemen and women in Iraq and Afghanistan have the necessary equipment to win the war on terrorism. H.R. 5122, the annual funding blueprint for the Department of Defense and America's military activities, provides a 2.7% pay increase for members of the armed forces.

"To protect the American people we must pay close, special attention to the needs of our heroic men and women of our armed forces currently fighting overseas in Iraq and Afghanistan," said Congressman Diaz-Balart. "This critical legislation provides necessary resources to effectively fight the war on terror and serves as a testament to our steadfast support for our men and women in uniform and their families as they continue protecting our freedom," concluded Diaz-Balart.
