Gingrey Praises Lobbying Reform Legislation

Gingrey amendment prohibits spending campaign money for personal use

This week, U.S. Congressman Phil Gingrey, M.D. voted to pass H.R. 4975, the Lobbying Accountability and Transparency Act of 2006. This legislation is the most comprehensive lobbying reform bill passed by Congress in over a decade. H.R. 4975 includes a provision sponsored by Gingrey to prohibit Members of Congress from using Leadership PAC money for personal purposes.

"As public servants, Members of Congress must hold ourselves to the highest ethical standards," said Gingrey. "This legislation shows the American people that we have renewed our commitment to transparent and accountable government. We needed to create higher standards to ensure we're upholding our principles of ethical leadership, and H.R. 4975 achieves this goal."
