Another Amazing FEC Report for Team Gill
I couldn't be more proud of those of you working on this campaign! I just saw the pre-primary FEC filing, and we continue to defy the experts and the pundits.
I've been told by those "in the know" that we won't be able to maintain our blistering pace of raising money at four times the rate we achieved during Gill Part One (2004 election). And I've been told by a few "political pros" that "Well, maybe you can keep it up, but you won't be able to continue your remarkable record of raising 95% of your money from John & Jane Doe-- you're going to need that corporate PAC money if you want to stay four times ahead of last election's pace."
Wrong & wrong! If there's one thing I've learned in 3+ years of campaigning, it's this: the experts are no more expert than you or I.
We've now raised $80,000..... at this point in 2004, we were at $19,000. And of our $80,000, more than $76,000 is from individual contributors (and most of that is from folks who give less than $100-$200). Thanks to your hard work, we continue to spread the word and this campaign continues to blossom. I've often said a quarter million dollars would purchase enough media time to knock off a fragile incumbent like Tim Johnson, who's yoked to a President whose popularity, even within his own party, grows more dismal by the week. We're well on our way to that figure..... we raised a total of $101,000 last time, and if you extrapolate out the figures, we're well on pace to raise enough to win this seat for the men and women of the 15th district come this November.
