UDALL STATEMENT ON HOUSE PASSAGE OF THE TAX RECONCILIATION CONFERENCE REPORT

Today, U.S. Representative issued the following statement on the House passage of the Tax Reconciliation Act conference report.

"This Tax Reconciliation bill does not represent fiscal responsibility. Our nation is drowning in costs associated with Iraq and the administration continues to cut innumerable valuable services jeopardizing our children's future and the future of our nation's fiscal health by plunging us deeper into debt.

"Our priorities are out of line. We should be using this money to pay down the deficit, provide every American with affordable health care, invest in technology and innovation for energy independence, strengthen our homeland security, and ensure that our troops around the world have the resources they need.

"Instead, the passage of this bill creates greater disparities in America and continues our country down a dangerous path of fiscal irresponsibility."
