Speaker Hastert: Republicans Support Strong National Security Agenda

House Speaker J. Dennis Hastert (R-IL) today issued the following statement, praising passage of the SAFE Port Act and highlighting Republican accomplishments on national security while identifying the Democrats' shortfalls on the issue. The SAFE Port Act passed 421-2.

"House Republicans will continue to do what is right to protect American families and prevent a tragedy like September 11th from occurring ever again. That means continuing to strengthen our domestic and international security efforts through measures like the SAFE Port Act, which will improve port security. We understand that we must secure our ports in order to protect our citizens."
