Over 211,000 New Jobs Added in March

WASHINGTON, D.C. - Today, the Bureau of Labor and Statistics released the latest employment report, citing an increase of 211,000 new jobs in the month of March. Congressman Sam Graves issued the following statement in response:

"Today's news is proof that more and more Americans are taking part the enthusiastic economic growth our country has experienced during the last few months. The creation of more and more job means that business owners are benefiting from lower taxes and pro-growth economic policies." said Graves.

The economy has created over five million new jobs since May 2003.The Bureau of Labor Statistics today announced that the current unemployment rate is 4.7 percent, lower than the average of the 1970s, 1980s, and 1990s.

The Bureau of Labor and Statistics (BLS) is the principal fact-finding agency for the Federal government in the broad field of labor economics and statistics. The BLS issues monthly reports on the latest information on job numbers on the first Friday of the month.
