ICYMI: Kiggans COPE Act Expands Mental Health Support for Veteran Caregivers, Improves Safety

Statement

Date: Dec. 7, 2023
Location: Washington, DC

“Becoming a veteran caregiver is no small undertaking and caregivers often put their entire lives aside in the pursuit of caring for their loved one. Therefore, we must ensure caregivers have access to the care they need. I am grateful to my friend and a fellow veteran, Rep. Kiggans, for her work on the COPE Act to break down barriers for veteran caregivers and find them the mental health support within their communities that works best for them. This is exactly what House Republicans are focused on, making government resources and support services work better for every American. I know that this bill will have a profound impact on our veteran caregiver community and will ensure veterans are safe in VA’s facilities. I look forward to working with Senate to enact this bill as part of a larger package of veterans’ legislation.”
