Booker Statement on Bipartisan Senate Passage of Security Supplemental

Statement

Date: Feb. 13, 2024
Location: Washington, DC

"It is imperative that the United States act urgently to support our allies in the world and address humanitarian needs that are causing immense human suffering. Supporting democracy wherever it flourishes and preventing humanitarian catastrophe is in our national security interests.

This legislation provides support for the people of Ukraine who continue to defend their freedom and their democracy in the face of Putin's illegal war. It also supports our allies in Israel and Taiwan, and takes desperately-needed steps to help alleviate a global hunger crisis that is affecting more people than ever before. I'm glad to see it pass with a wide, bipartisan majority.

The House must act immediately to advance this legislation and rise to meet the challenges America faces in the world."
