CAPITO ANNOUNCES RESOURCES FOR PUBLIC HEALTH, ECONOMIC DEVELOPMENT, INFRASTRUCTURE, AND EDUCATION IN WEST VIRGINIA

Press Release

Date: Jan. 8, 2024
Location: Washington, D.C.

"I am proud to secure resources that will help children have as many opportunities possible to learn and be successful at an early age, as well as critical support to strengthen our local health centers as they provide quality health services to West Virginians. I am also glad that we are supporting programs that anticipate and prevent the outbreak of future diseases here in our state. As Ranking Member of the Senate Labor-HHS Appropriations Subcommittee, I will always advocate for tools that will support more opportunities and better care for West Virginians and their families. As the Ranking Member of the EPW Committee, I help oversee and work closely with the Appalachian Regional Commission to identify and support local projects that are making a difference in our communities. The grants announced today will provide a boost to organizations on the ground helping to increase health care, education, and wellness opportunities for West Virginians. Making sure our communities have the tools they need to ensure the proper efficiency and longevity of critical infrastructure like sewers is critically important. I am happy to have secured this grant to help Belington meet that need and better serve its residents. West Virginia is a state rich with history and culture. Arthurdale is a great example of the history that is preserved in the Mountain State that I have been proud to support, and I'm glad to see NEH helping them expand and raise the standard of services they provide. I am excited for the future generations of West Virginians that will learn new skills and subjects there."
