DeLauro Statement on Continuing Resolution

Statement

"The Appropriations Committees have reached bipartisan agreement to extend federal funding and keep the government open while we negotiate final 2024 funding bills. Too much time--the duration of the first two continuing resolutions--was wasted reaffirming the topline funding levels determined in the bipartisan budget agreement made in June. Because of this, there is simply not enough time to write and pass appropriations bills before the January and February deadlines.

I am encouraged by the bipartisan conversations that have taken place since the Schumer-Johnson agreement was reached. There is a mutual understanding that the only way to finally end the saga of 2024 funding is to write government funding bills that can earn the support of both Democrats and Republicans in the House and in the Senate.

I look forward to quickly passing what is hopefully our last Continuing Resolution."
