Graham Statement on Hunter Biden Plea Deal

Statement

Date: July 26, 2023
Location: Washington, D.C.

"What happened today in federal court regarding the Hunter Biden plea agreement was astonishing, unnerving, and unprecedented.

When the judge asked the prosecutor if the plea agreement covered ongoing investigations related to Hunter Biden's activities with foreign governments and foreign agents, the prosecutor said no. The defense immediately challenged that statement and eventually withdrew from the plea agreement and entered a plea of not guilty.

I find it impossible to believe that the prosecution and the defense did not discuss with each other what the plea agreement covered in terms of potential charges.

Thanks to Judge Noreika, we now know that apparently there are ongoing investigations regarding Hunter Biden and his activities with foreign governments and foreign agents. Given the defense's reaction to this statement, we now have more questions than answers.

Also during this hearing, Judge Noreika noted that the deal provided to Hunter Biden was one of a kind. She pointedly asked the prosecutor if there has ever been a situation like this deal and the restrictions on the court's ability to review the deal in other cases.

The prosecutor replied, "No, your Honor.'

Finally, I hope the system will continue to move forward and look at the real and serious concerns surrounding Hunter Biden's involvement with foreign governments and agents of foreign governments. The public needs to know the truth.

Only once all the facts have been investigated and uncovered can justice be fairly administered."
