STATEMENT: REP. SCHIFF APPLAUDS TENTATIVE WGA DEAL

Statement

Date: Sept. 25, 2023
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Labor Unions

"The tentative deal reached between the Writers Guild of America and the Alliance of Motion Picture and Television Producers marks a major moment in the labor and entertainment industries. Their members stood strong together for almost 150 days to reach a fair deal. Importantly, the deal will address better wages and conditions, new streaming residuals, and concerns around artificial intelligence.

I hope that the Screen Actors Guild - American Federation of Television and Radio Artists (SAG-AFTRA) will be able to achieve similar success, and that AMPTP and SAG-AFTRA will arrive at a fair deal for actors that addresses all of the important issues. Once that happens, we must all focus our efforts on getting Hollywood -- all its workers and those who support the industry -- back on their feet.

The workers in the entertainment industry make the magic on screen happen, and I am thrilled and hopeful they may soon be back at work."
