NEAL STATEMENT ON THE AUGUST 2023 JOBS REPORT

Statement

"One year after the Inflation Reduction Act, Democrats' economic agenda has set America on a stronger, more prosperous path. Today's jobs report shows that our economy continues to stabilize while our labor force is growing and wages are on the rise. With a record 13.5 million jobs created since President Biden took office, Democrats are growing the economy by growing the middle class. These results are no accident -- the landmark Inflation Reduction Act, alongside the American Rescue Plan, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law, and CHIPS and Science Act, is unlocking opportunity for working families in communities across the country while lowering health care, prescription drug, and energy costs.

While Democrats offer a blueprint for a stronger America, Republicans are focused on undoing our success through their agenda of chaos, conspiracies, and cuts. Instead of empowering workers, Republicans are using their Majority to put the wealthy and well-connected first while undermining the child care and paid leave programs that help the middle class get ahead. As Republicans chart a path towards a catastrophic government shutdown to appease their most extreme Members, Democrats won't let anyone forget where our priorities lie: investing in America by investing in our workers and families."
