Radanovich Supports Bill To Strengthen Intelligence-Gathering Capabilities; House Republicans Support Legislation to Increase Funding for Intelligence-gathering Agencies
Congressman George Radanovich (R-Mariposa) today voted to support a comprehensive bill that will boost funding for federal intelligence-gathering agencies to help them more effectively fight and win the war on terror. H.R. 5020, the Intelligence Authorization Act for Fiscal Year 2007, will help address deficiencies in our intelligence agencies caused by steep cuts in intelligence spending during the 1990s.
"Just yesterday, a federal jury convicted a Lodi man of terror-related activities, so it is clear that terrorism is an issue that literally hits close to home," Congressman Radanovich said. "Our intelligence-gathering agencies must have the tools and resources they need to track down terrorists and bring them to justice, and this legislation will help provide those critical resources. The Lodi case, combined with the recent public statements by Osama bin Laden and Abu Musab al-Zarqasi, remind us that we must remain vigilant and stay on the offensive in fighting the war on terror."
