STATEMENT BY CONGRESSMAN KILDEE ON THE 25TH ANNIVERSARY OF THE GOOD FRIDAY AGREEMENT

Congressman Dan Kildee (MI-08), member of the Friends of Ireland Caucus and Ways and Means Committee Subcommittee on Trade, issued the following statement on the 25thAnniversary of the signing of the Good Friday Agreement, the peace accord that helped to end three decades of violence in Northern Ireland:

"The Good Friday Agreement helped usher in a new era of peace and stability to the island of Ireland. On this important 25th anniversary, we have seen this peace agreement remain durable even through the challenges of Brexit. I look forward to working with our friends in the European Union and United Kingdom to ensure a hard border does not return to Ireland.

"As a person of Irish heritage, in Congress, I will continue to support peace efforts for Ireland and look for ways to strengthen the relationship between our two great countries."
