QUIGLEY STATEMENT ON BIDEN VISIT TO KYIV

Today, U.S. Representative Mike Quigley (IL-05), Co-Chair of the Congressional Ukraine Caucus, released the following statement on President Joe Biden's surprise visit to Kyiv, Ukraine:

"President Biden's visit to Kyiv ahead of the one-year anniversary of Putin's brutal invasion sends a clear message: The United States stands with Ukraine.

"Nearly one year ago, the world watched in horror as Russian forces began their assault on Ukraine. Much of the world expected Kyiv to fall within days, and yet, as President Biden said today, "Kyiv stands. Ukraine stands. Democracy stands.'

"Today, with air raid sirens blaring, President Biden stood with President Zelenskyy on the streets of Kyiv and reaffirmed the West's unwavering commitment to Ukraine and its victory.

"During my own visit to Kyiv last July, I saw the horrors of the war firsthand and learned what Ukraine needs to win this war. I will not rest in my support for Ukraine's freedom. I am eager to work alongside the President and my colleagues in Congress to make certain Ukraine has everything they need to ensure that victory."
