U.S. Representative Larry Bucshon, M.D. (R-Ind.-08) issued the following statement after the Consumer Price Index (CPI) report showed inflation rose 0.4% in September, keeping core inflation at a 40 year high.

"Hoosiers are struggling -- their budgets are stretched thin, savings drained, and they are being forced to sacrifice the goods and services they previously enjoyed thanks to the rising cost of living. Some price increases, such as health insurance going up 28% in the last year alone, are costs that families cannot delay or cut back on. With Democrats controlling the House, Senate, and White House, we have seen the American economy suffer, the buying power of families and businesses on Main Street be wiped out, and the doubling down on failed policies that only make matters worse.

"Last month, I voted against the Democrats' "Inflation Reduction Act' knowing that if enacted, it would only worsen America's rampant price crisis. With today's announcement that the price of almost everything is up again, by over 8 percent from September of last year we are seeing that come to fruition. This is why House Republicans put forward the Commitment to America address the rising cost of living and create an economy that's strong for Americans and for Hoosiers," said Dr. Bucshon.
