Larson: Republicans Continue Their Promises to End Social Security as We Know It

Today, Rep. John B. Larson (CT-01) released the following statement regarding Republicans' plans for Social Security.

"Republicans continue to let us in on their dangerous plans for Social Security," said Larson. "In his recent op-ed for the Wall Street Journal, Senator Mitt Romney recycled the age-old Republican argument that Social Security is an entitlement that increases inflation. The fact of the matter is, this is false.

"Working Americans pay into Social Security with each and every paycheck and earn this benefit for when they need it. Many beneficiaries live on a fixed income and are most impacted by inflation. Our country does not need more tax breaks for the wealthy so benefits can someday trickle down. I introduced Social Security 2100: A Sacred Trust to protect and enhance Social Security, not to end it as we know it like my Republican colleagues are suggesting we do," Larson continued.
