Rep. Rosendale Applauds VA Health Care Announcement

Press Release

Date: Oct. 13, 2022
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Veterans

After a year of pressing the Biden Administration, Congressman Matt Rosendale secured a win for veterans by ensuring that current IT modernization problems are not compounded. Today, the Department of Veterans Affairs announced that they would delay further implementation of the Oracle Cerner electronic health record system to address recurring problems with the rollout. In places where the system is currently used, veterans and their health care providers have faced many technical issues including problems with scheduling patient visits and managing medications. Our nation's veterans deserve the best care available, taking the time to address these issues is the best step the VA can take right now. Going forward, the VA must keep evaluating the system to ensure that is it safe before implementation.

"This is welcome news," Rep. Rosendale said, "There has been a lot of demonstrated problems with this program and I'm glad that Secretary McDonough is honoring his word in delaying this program until it can be fixed."
