Location: Wooldrige, MO
Issues: Social

Congresswoman Vicky Hartzler (R-Mo.) on Wednesday met with Wooldridge residents impacted by last weekend's village fire. The blaze destroyed or heavily damaged 23 buildings and resulted in the destruction of five square miles of land in Cooper County. No fatalities have been reported in relation to the fire.

Governor Parson, State Senator Caleb Rowden, and State Representative Tim Taylor joined Congresswoman Hartzler at the Wooldridge Baptist Church to visit with residents, first responders, and community leaders. The church will be able to be repaired fully, with other area churches having volunteered to donate a new organ and piano. The stain glass windows were saved.

"In these times of peril, Missourians band together and showcase their unrivaled resiliency and perseverance. This tragic situation is no different," Hartzler said. "I am certain Wooldridge will bounce back from this devastating fire. Our state's leaders and I stand ready to assist in any way possible to achieve that reality. May God bless these residents and their recovery efforts."
