Bice Opposes Senate Gun Control Bill

Statement

Date: June 24, 2022
Location: Washington, DC
Issues: Guns

Washington, D.C- Congresswoman Bice issued the following statement after voting against the Senate gun control bill:

"While there were many provisions in this package I support, including expanding school and community-based mental health services, increasing access to telehealth, and providing funding for school security, I ultimately could not vote for this legislation in its final form. I have serious concerns about the lack of due process in place for gun owners. Furthermore, in my home state of Oklahoma, it is illegal to implement red flag laws. Due to this provision, taxpayer money from hardworking Oklahomans would flow to states with less stringent Second Amendment protections. I remain committed to finding solutions that do not infringe upon the Second Amendment rights of law-abiding gun owners."
