REP. FRENCH HILL STATEMENT ON DEATH OF FORMER JAPANESE PRIME MINISTER ABE

Rep. French Hill (AR-02) issued the following statement today following the assassination of former Japanese Prime Minster Shinzo Abe:

"Prime Minister Abe was a statesman in every sense of the word as evidenced by his dedication to revitalizing Japan and transforming Japan's role on the world stage. In 2019, I had the pleasure of meeting Prime Minster Abe, and I thanked him for his firm support of our joint national security priorities in North Asia and dedication to strengthening the partnership between the U.S. and Japan. The United States stands with the people of Japan, and I extend my heartfelt condolences to Prime Minister Abe's family and the people of Japan."

In February 2021, Rep. Hill was reappointed to the Japan-United States Friendship Commission, an independent government agency established by Congress in 1975 to promote educational, intellectual advancements, and cultural exchanges between the two nations.
