STATEMENT: Rep. Neguse on President Biden Signing the Inflation Reduction Act

Statement

Date: Aug. 16, 2022
Location: Washington, DC

Today, President Biden signed the Inflation Reduction Act of 2022 into law. The signing of this historic bill marks the single largest investment in climate action in American history, delivering significant investments for clean energy production, scientific research, wildfire response, and wildlife recovery. Additional measures will save Americans thousands of dollars each year by cutting energy bills, lowering health care costs, and boosting American manufacturing.

"The Inflation Reduction Act makes major investments in families and communities across our country by lowering healthcare costs, fighting inflation, and making a significant step forward in the fight against the climate crisis. I was proud to work with my colleagues in crafting this historic bill, which includes major investments in drought resiliency, wildfire mitigation, and Colorado's scientific labs, and believe it meets the moment for the American people," said Congressman Joe Neguse.

A priority for many Coloradans, the Inflation Reduction Act includes $5 billion for forest and reforestation investments and wildfire mitigation programs, $4 billion for the Bureau of Reclamation to combat drought conditions across the West, and $2 billion for scientific labs across the country.
