Location: Washington, D.C.

Today, Rep. Susie Lee announced that she secured the inclusion of $350,000 for the Clark County Small Business Opportunity Program in the Fiscal Year 2023 Financial Services and General Government (FSGG) appropriations bill. This project would expand and upgrade the Clark County Small Business Opportunity Program (SBOP), a long-standing county program that helps small business owners increase their capacity to compete for government contracts. Small businesses that enroll in SBOP receive instruction, networking, mentoring, coaching, and training with the goal of preparing them to be successful contract bid winners for state and local government entities, institutions of higher learning, and private agencies.

"Small businesses are the lifeblood of our communities, and I'll always fight to get our small business owners the support they need to succeed," said Rep. Lee. "This funding would help small business owners better compete for government contracts that can bring significant business and good-paying jobs to southern Nevada. When I ran for Congress, I made a commitment to make sure Nevada gets its fair share of federal tax dollars invested in our state, and that includes small businesses. This funding would help me continue to deliver on that promise."

Rep. Susie Lee submitted several Community Project Funding requests to the Appropriations Committee, of which she is a member. Information on the status of additional requests will continue to be announced in the coming days.

The inclusion of this funding in the Appropriations Committee draft bill is the first step in the funding process. Rep. Susie Lee will continue to fight for this funding as the bill moves to the full Appropriations Committee, consideration on the House Floor, and negotiations with the Senate.
