Rep. Titus Announces $543.8 Million for Nevada Infrastructure

Statement

Congresswoman Dina Titus (NV-01), Chair of the House Transportation and Infrastructure Subcommittee on Economic Development, Public Buildings, and Emergency Management, announced $543.8 million in Fiscal Year 2023 Federal Highway Administration apportionments for Nevada. This funding is made possible by the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law championed by Rep. Titus.

"This historic funding builds on last year's allocation to make direct investments for improving Nevada's roads, bridges, and public transit, as well as making our infrastructure more resilient to extreme weather events," said Rep. Titus. "This will make Nevada's infrastructure safer and more efficient so that families can have greater mobility and businesses will be able to better compete in the global economy."

The Bipartisan Infrastructure Law contains the single largest dedicated investment in transportation infrastructure since the construction of the Interstate Highway System in the 1950s and 1960s. In the last year alone, Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding has been used to help address long overdue needs in all 50 states.

The fiscal year 2023 is the second year of funding under the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law and represents an increase of $15.4 billion in formula programs compared to Fiscal Year 2021, the last fiscal year before the Bipartisan Infrastructure Law was implemented. This Bipartisan Infrastructure Law funding is distributed annually by FHWA based on Congressionally mandated formulas.

Background

Nevada has been allocated the following funding for the Fiscal Year 2023, totaling $543.8 million:

Highway Programs - $490.7 million

These programs provide various funding for improving the performance and condition of highways, bridges, and tunnels; making pedestrian and bicycle infrastructure safer; supporting transit capital projects; reducing traffic fatalities and serious injuries on our roads; reducing congestion and improving air quality; making highway freight movement more efficient; and assisting local communities with preparing for extreme weather events including wildfires and flooding.

National Highway Performance Program - $258.3 million
Surface Transportation Block Grant Program - $125.7 million
Highway Safety Improvement Program - $27.9 million
Railway-Highway Crossings Program - $1.3 million
Congestion Mitigation & Air Quality Improvement - $36.2 million
Metropolitan Planning - $4.4 million
National Highway Freight Program - $12.8 million
Carbon Reduction Program - $11.2 million
PROTECT Formula Program - $12.7 million

Bridge Formula Program - $45 million

Provides funding for bridge replacement, rehabilitation, preservation, and construction.

National Electric Vehicle Infrastructure Formula Program -- $8.1 million

Provides funding to strategically deploy electric vehicle charging infrastructure and to establish an interconnected network to facilitate data collection, access, and reliability.
